House of Dynasty is a longtime staple for Chinese cuisine tucked along Telegraph Road in Alexandria, offering a traditional full-service dining experience. The atmosphere balances between comfortable and slightly formal, with decor that nods to classic Chinese restaurant styling without feeling overly upscale—making it a convenient spot for everything from casual lunch outings to small family dinners.

The menu leans heavily on familiar Cantonese and Szechuan favorites, attracting locals who appreciate straightforward, hearty flavors. Signature dishes like sesame chicken, hot and sour soup, and orange chicken are common picks, while the rainbow rice noodles and Szechuan-style green beans have their loyal fans, especially among repeat visitors. Portions tend to be generous, which pairs well with their family-style dining options or sharing plates like the Pu Pu Platter geared toward groups. Dinner selections such as Chicken Hunan Style or Beef Kung Pao hit the right notes for those seeking something with a bit of spice or bold flavor.

House of Dynasty tends to draw a diverse crowd—from local workers grabbing lunch to families seeking solid, no-fuss Chinese takeout or dine-in meals. The service is generally attentive and efficient, helping keep meal times smooth even during busier hours.

While the interior isn’t modern or trendy, it’s clean and welcoming, making it a relaxed place to enjoy familiar tastes without pressure. The setting works well for weekday lunches or casual weekend dinners, especially if you want dependable Chinese fare with the kind of variety that suits all ages or appetites. For those new to the neighborhood or anyone craving a straightforward Chinese meal, House of Dynasty offers a genuine neighborhood feel where the focus stays on the food and friendly service rather than bells and whistles.

Was in mood for Chinese food and we were recommended to this restaurant. We ordered combination fried rice, combination lo mein, and pan fried vegetable dumplings. Everything was good. The dumplings weren’t the best I’ve had but it wasn’t bad. The fried rice was delicious. It’s a solid choice! They even have family prices to enjoy a little bit of everything. Once we placed the order, the food came out fast. I also liked that they served hot tea. At the end of your meal, they will give you a hot towel to clean your hands. Would come again.

I was pleasantly surprised. Try their combination fried rice, beef in black bean sauce, or spare ribs.

Had lunch here with some friends and everyone was very pleased with their meals. Everything was cooked perfectly so the chicken was tender and juicy. The flavors popped in every single item we were served. Highly recommend going here and would love to go back again to try more. The restaurant itself had a fairly fancy decor but you welcomed as you are, as my group was not dressed up. Staff was prompt and kind and the food came out very fast.

The food was average with traces of MSG, but the portion size was ok. The service was good, and the ambiance could have been improved as it looked dated although clean and tidy, to enhance the dining experience.

I’ve been coming to HoD for over 20 years — they still got it!! The rainbow thin rice noodles are delicious and so is the Szechuan green beans!
